A Christ-Centered Devotional Poem

A while back I wrote a poem called “The Preeminent Christ” based on Colossians chapter 1 and I’ve decided to share something similar with you. I recently read a blog post called “Christ the Center – Pt. 3: The Heart of the Matter” by David Bolton. In it, David expresses Christ as the center of all things through a poetic medium. It was so beautifully written that I spent some devotional time reading through it. It deeply touched my heart and brought Christ sharply into focus. As a continuation of my devotion, I decided to write my own poetic expression in a similar style to David’s.

Something interesting that happened while I was writing this poem, was that the Lord took me to various scriptures and revealed some new things I had never seen before (Blog post coming soon haha). Overall, I had an amazing time with the Lord and he revealed Himself to me through it. I believe that creative expressions are given to us by God to enjoy Him and express Him.

In this poem, each line is a theme that progressed during my devotional meditation on Christ. There’s no particular order to it. It simply came out of my time with the Lord. You can either read through it quickly and appreciate the many aspects of Christ, or you can read through it slowly and meditate on each theme. I did both with David’s post and enjoyed Christ immensely through it. If you have any comments, or your own poems and creative expressions, feel free to share them in the comments.

    Hi Nathan,

I am very interested in organic church and would love to meetup to discuss. The organic church concept is not foreign to me, but I have not yet found a body of believers in Cape Town to fellowship with. They seem to operate under the radar…

Would love to hear from you.

    Regards

I’m currently not in Cape Town, but I can connect you with a few groups (One which I was a part of), depending on where in Cape Town you are located. I’ll get someone to contact you once I have your details. Blessings brother.
